Summary: The Global SMU Merchandiser – Men’s, Youth and Accessories is responsible for the execution of products that are built outside and / or off-calendar from the seasonal range.  This includes, but is not limited to, working with the Design team on the creation of compelling product assortments that align with the needs of the brand and customers; collaboration with the Development team on product creation and build quality; as well as, serving as the liaison between Sales or Global partners, Designers, Developers and Suppliers.  

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the costing process / negotiations and ensure that products are aligned with margin goals
  • Define the product merchandising strategy for the channel / customer
  • Works with financial targets, having the ability to translate these into quarterly product strategies in conjunction with the Planning team
  • Conducts thorough analysis of historical sell-in and sell-thru numbers making the best decisions for future product needs
  • Ensures that products created align with the customer’s needs…working closely with product teams, Marketing and Sales throughout this process
  • Monitor Development communication with Suppliers
  • Review and provide design / construction comments (In conjunction with Designers and Developers)
  • Monitor fabric, block, and color development approvals (In conjunction with Designers and Developers)
  • Provide styling, fit and construction comments during product development (In conjunction with Designers and Developers)
  • Manage and maintain any specific trim development for responsible styles and ensure on-time delivery to Suppliers
  • Manage and maintain the sample development / approval cycle maintaining on-time delivery of products
  • Ensures that all products are setup accurately, ready for integration from the PLM system to the company’s ERP system
  • Research and provide findings related to market analysis, product trends and competitors
  • Knowledge of customer needs and applicable market trends at key price-points.
