Summary: As the Managing Editor, you are responsible for developing stories for social media platforms, The Cleanest Line blog, and the company’s print publications. You are tasked with discovering and championing what’s new, while remaining a gatekeeper of the high standards of prose—and singular voice—of Patagonia.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that copy is clear, accurate, smart, and conveys Patagonia’s values.
- Works with marketing teams to tailor stories for their needs.
- Collaborates with all teams to develop strategies, concepts and stories for individual product lines.
- Collaborates with writers and category editors to adapt stories for print.
- Collaborates with social media managers to engage directly with members of the climbing community.
- Writes social captions, responds (rather thoughtfully than reacts) in online forums, and adapts to connect with climbers in a changing media landscape.
- Optimizes story development process and workbook review for various product lines.
- Commissions work from freelance writers and cultivates a network of contributors of all ages, gender, race, sexual orientation, and abilities.
