Summary: As the Vice President of Global Strategy, you will lead the long-term strategic planning process for the Brand and play a catalyzing role to help Vans progressively expand its business to win with Vans’ brand fans worldwide. To fulfill your role, you will partner closely with the President and Global Brand Leadership team to maintain and evolve as needed the brand’s executional vision to win. This role will cover areas such as strategy definition and strategic planning, market intelligence, facilitation of cross functional growth initiatives, strategic brand management, continuous process improvement, and brand expansion through new ventures and business models.


  • Lead a small but mighty team that maximizes Vans’ ability to win with brand fans while delivering superior financial results through strategy excellence.
  • Actively drive and participate with the Global Brand Leadership team in developing a long-term strategic vision, including Vans’ GSM/GTM process.  Lead annual strategic planning process with President, Regional GM’s and CFO. Ensure a disciplined process to define, communicate, activate, execute and performance manage strategic choices and initiatives that will drive achievement of short and long-term goals.
  • Identify and drive a framework for prioritization across the global brand where decisions are aligned upon and investments of time, energy and dollars are in sync.
  • Provide critical market intelligence (e.g., competitive analysis, trends and foresight) to Vans executives and project teams that improve strategic planning and decision making.
  • Lead cross functional growth initiatives or operational improvement exercises that are Vans Leadership Team priorities, including building the initial business case and partnering with peers to test and pilot ideas before scaling.  Identify, quantify, validate and execute adjacent and white space opportunities that strengthen market position and align with brand growth objectives.
  • Maintain a dashboard of strategic priorities for the senior management team and manage reporting to VF Corporate. Answer requests for information and develop talking points for Corporate Communications Director and Corporate Investor Relations.
