Roark: Vol 18 - West Java
Brand: Roark
Collection: West Java
Roark Said: Each season the collection is inspired by stories, culture, climate, people and local textiles from travels to a different point on the map. The steamy, oft-not-touristed island of Java offered an unusual opportunity for our Spring expeditions into the depths of the frenetic mainland and neighbouring Panaitan Island. The collection is inspired by the vibrant locals textile processes, ancient Javanese mystique and dusty tropical palette.
Our Thoughts: Roark is impressive, I’m digging them the last couple of years. I love, probably more so today, the travel aspect they slice into their narrative and apply it through garment production (and I think – hope – supporting local areas they visit). The printed editions they drop after each trip is full of photography, stories and interviews – good, solid content. And the apparel ranges they are creating are, to me, a nice mix between beach lifestyle, fashion and functionality. Pieces you should look at from this collection include::
*Second Wind Jacket (maybe go up a size, looks tight)
*Jungle Attack Shit
*Boatman Boardies
*Jalan Cord Jacket (this looks amazing)
*Porter Lightweight Shorts (look like an amazing cut/fit)
