NIKEcraft Collection
Brand: NIKE
Collaboration w/: Tom Sachs
Key Features: The design, the packaging and the whole project
You Should Buy: Nothing, unless you want to drop over $2k
The NIKEcraft Collection dropped back in 2012, so this isn’t new news, but it’s still very amazing. Even today you rarely see brands giving this much effort and attention to detail.
Launched in conjunction with Tom Sachs’ SPACE PROGRAM: Mars exhibit, which featured fabricated lunar modules and actors in space suits in an installation meant to emulate a Mars landing. The capsule included a pair of sneakers, a jacket and a bag. All very amazing product, and highly limited.
But I want to focus on the packaging. Check the detail Nike created in fully delivering something around Tom’s vision for the project. Granted they’re a huge brand who can slice some cheese off to create it all, but it should show to every other brand out there that you can deliver an amazing experience regardless of numbers available, $ ROI, or anything else management is telling why you can’t…
If you’re Nike fan, or even if you somehow stumbled across it and copped, odds on you’ve still got the packaging (and other pieces) stashed somewhere. I want to see more of this love given to big projects, not just ‘content creation’ (which, if you’re being honest is just shitty level video for social, right?)..
