Derrick Disney from Cardiff, part of North County’s resurgence of the shape everything / ride anything movement. Cam Richards of Myrtle Beach, Vissla’s other goofy-footed fellow that not only knows how to position himself deep in tubes but has magic tricks above the lip that make it seem he has no regard for his well-being. And, lastly, Toby Mossop from Burleigh Heads. The Australian that spends more time in the barrel than the ocean itself.”
I’m a fan of Cam and his Pipe antics, but haven’t seen him or the others (minus Toby) surf in real life. Toby tho, sheeeesh, that kid can read a tube. Seen him the last few swells at Kirra, etc and he’s up for wildly late drops, stupid deep tubes and does it all with a grin. Always up for a chat too, kids got a future.
The collection tho? It’s their spring collection from the US (maybe drop here soon?), it’s nice and it’s very Vissla. And that’s a good thing. I like what Vissla are doing, in and out of the water. You should buy more of their stuff to keep them growing and able to re-invest into shapers, surfers and grass roots events – more so now, as they’re still independent.
