The PR from Globe
For more than 20 years, Pantone’s Color of the Year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions across fashion and furnishings, as well as product, packaging, and graphic design. As creatives, we speak the language of color and Pantone is our dictionary. In tribute, we offer fellow design and color enthusiasts the ability to skate or collect a piece of color trend history.
For this limited edition series, each color was thoughtfully considered and selected by the design team at Globe from the Pantone Color of the Year archives. Each deck is a numbered edition of 200, dipped in one of the Pantone Colors of the Year from the past two decades.
Our Thoughts
I love these, BUT, I definitely don’t classify myself as a skateboarder. I love them because they’re clean and I personally am very happy they picked Empire Ave Green as one colour. You could hang these on the wall and they’d look really nice (see below), you could keep them in the box for a corner piece in your home, or you could ride them – which I’m sure some people will (and should). Horses for courses is basically the point I’m making, and the course I ride isn’t head butting concrete anymore as I stopped bouncing a long time ago.
The ability to do something like this would be fairly easy – dip some decks, away you go. The challenge with taking the idea, pitching to Pantone and getting them sign off on it for a multi year project is worth of a hat tip to Globe. Not something I imagine would have been easy, let alone to execute like they have.
